As part of his Macbeth Tour, beer historian will be coming to Manchester on Sunday April 2nd to talk to homebrewers, brewers and beer enthusiasts about the misconceptions surrounding Scottish beer. First meetup of 2017 after a month off during December and what a collection of beers people brought! As often happens I forgot my notepad so details might be short on some beers. A huge array of beers this month. Some intentionally bad, some intentionally soured, some hoppy, some dark, some wonderfully weird and some spiced! We had the lot. Stockport Beer Festival Homebrew Competition 2017

Entries are now open for this years competition to provide 5 beers for Bar Nouveau at the Stockport Beer Festival. The competition last year was a great success and the beers at the festival where very well received. This year the competition is looking for five new beers which will be brewed in collaboration with some of the best of Manchester's professional breweries. The competition will be officially announced in the December edition of Opening Times and judging is planned to take place in March.
