November Meet Writeup

November Meet Writeup

As always the meet was made up lots of good beer and good discussions. We had two professional brewers and a local CAMRA chairman in attendance. Here are some of the highlights.

Welcome Rob

We welcomed Rob (@DrRobsBrew) who attended the meet for the first time. He brought his first ever all grain brew called 'Mable's Mosaic'. A pale ale using magnum and mosaic hops, marris otter and 5% wheat. A really good first beer and plenty of positive feedback. Well done and we can't wait to try more!

Homebrew Competition for Stockport Beer Fest

John Clarke (@Beer4John) from Stockport and South Manchester CAMRA branch came along to discuss the launch of a new homebrew competition for the Stockport Beer Fest. If you ever wanted to have your beer brewed by a registered brewery then this is your chance! To register just email your name, contact details and which categories you want to enter to by 31st Dec. Full competition details can be found on their website: http://www.ssmcamra.co.uk/HomeBrew.htm

Liverpool Brew Off

The Liverpool Homebrewing Club (@liv_homebrew) have challenged us to a brew off! The idea is that each club enters a single beer for each of the 5 styles (Mild, Bitter, IPA, Stout/Porter, Speciality). They are then blindly tasted and the club with the most winners win overall. Date and venue has yet to be confirmed but it looks like it will be on the 21st Feb at @BeerNouveau the temperance street brewery. So get brewing. Our entries for each style will be decided at the Jan meet.

December Meet

As is tradition the December meet won't be on the 3rd Sunday of the month and instead will be replaced with an evening out around the best beer establishments Manchester has to offer. The pub crawl will be on the Sat 19th December. We plan to start at @BeerNouveau the temperance street brewery who will be having a brewtap that day. At 4pm we will move on into Manchester.
